      Programmes We Offer and International Assessments

      The first authorised Cambridge partner school in Semarang GMIS Semarang delivers internationally benchmarked programmes and assessments in line with Cambridge International Education standards, ensuring recognised academic pathways and global comparability.

       

      Pre-school education at GMIS Semarang follows an internationally informed Early Years Framework, designed to support holistic development, early literacy, numeracy, and social skills. The Early Years programme consists of the following stages:

       

      Nursery – age 2–3

      A play-based learning environment that supports early development, communication skills, independence, and social interaction in a nurturing international school setting.

       

      Kindergarten – age 4–5

      A structured Early Years programme focusing on early literacy, numeracy, creativity, and personal development, preparing pupils for the next stage of formal learning.

       

      Preparatory – age 5–6

      A transition year that strengthens foundational academic skills, learning behaviours, and readiness for Primary education within an English-medium international curriculum.

       

      Primary School with the Cambridge

      The Primary School programme at Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School Semarang follows the Cambridge Primary curriculum, delivering a well-structured and internationally benchmarked education within an English-medium learning environment. The programme emphasises strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, science, and inquiry-based learning, supporting pupils’ academic growth, confidence, and readiness for the next phase of schooling.

      Grade 1 – age 5–6

      An introduction to formal learning within the Cambridge Primary framework, focusing on early literacy, numeracy, social development, and positive learning habits in an English-medium classroom.

       

      Grade 2

      Building confidence in reading, writing, and mathematics while encouraging curiosity, independence, and collaborative learning through a balanced and engaging curriculum.

       

      Grade 3

      Developing subject knowledge and learning skills across the curriculum, with increased emphasis on problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking.

       

      Grade 4

      Strengthening academic rigour and responsibility for learning, as pupils apply knowledge across subjects and develop greater independence and organisation.

       

      Grade 5

      Preparing pupils for the transition to Lower Secondary by consolidating core academic skills, deepening understanding across subjects, and developing study skills aligned with international standards.

       

      Lower Secondary with the Cambridge

      Grade 6 – Cambridge Checkpoint

      The first year of Lower Secondary builds on the Cambridge Primary foundations. Pupils develop deeper subject understanding, independent learning habits, and analytical skills. The Cambridge Checkpoint assessment provides an internationally benchmarked measure of progress and supports informed transition planning.

       

      Grade 7

      Pupils experience increased academic challenge across subjects while strengthening critical thinking, research skills, and responsibility for their own learning within an English-medium international curriculum.

       

      Grade 8 – Cambridge Checkpoint

      The final year of Lower Secondary consolidates subject knowledge and learning skills in preparation for Upper Secondary. The Cambridge Checkpoint assessment in Grade 8 provides a clear international benchmark and supports subject pathway planning for the next stage of education.

       

      Upper Secondary with BSEISI

       

      Grade 9

      Grade 9 marks the transition to Upper Secondary, where pupils begin focused academic preparation aligned with the BSEISI pathway. Emphasis is placed on subject depth, study skills, and readiness for formal examinations.

       

      Grade 10 – Matriculation BSEISI Examination

      Pupils undertake the BSEISI Matriculation Examination, demonstrating academic achievement and readiness to progress to higher secondary studies. Teaching focuses on consolidation of knowledge, exam skills, and academic discipline.

       

      Grade 11

      Pupils continue higher secondary studies with increased academic rigour, developing subject specialisation, independent study skills, and preparation for final examinations and post-school pathways.

       

      Grade 12 – Higher Secondary Examination and Indonesian National Examination

      The final year prepares pupils for the Higher Secondary Examination and the Indonesian National Examination.             Language Week Celebration at GMIS Semarang

            “Speaking for the Voiceless: Celebrating World Animal Welfare Day”

            GMIS Semarang successfully held its annual Language Week celebration, a week-long event that brought together students from Early Years to Senior School in a series of enriching language and communication activities. The event aimed to promote language proficiency, confidence, and expression while commemorating World Animal Welfare Day.

            The celebration commenced with a delightful Pet Show and Tell session for the Early Years and Primary students. Young learners eagerly introduced their pets, sharing stories and experiences that reflected compassion and responsibility toward animals.

            Continuing the momentum, the following day featured an engaging Spelling Bee Competition for students from Grades 4 to 8. Participants demonstrated their spelling skills, concentration, and quick thinking, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and enthusiasm for learning.

            The week concluded with a thought-provoking Debate Competition among Senior School students, who represented various international organizations. The debate centered on global perspectives of animal welfare, allowing participants to showcase their public speaking, critical thinking, and research skills.

            Through these activities, Language Week at GMIS Semarang not only highlighted students’ linguistic talents but also fostered empathy, awareness, and advocacy for animal welfare. The event served as a meaningful reminder of the power of language in inspiring understanding and compassion within the global community.

            GMIS Got Talent 2025 Shines at GMIS Semarang

            Semarang, Indonesia – September 19, 2025 – The spotlight was on the students of GMIS Semarang as they showcased their creativity and confidence in the much-awaited GMIS Got Talent 2025. From Early Years to Grade 12, students amazed the audience with a wide range of performances including singing, dancing, solo instrumentals, and stand-up comedy.

            Parents, teachers, and classmates filled the auditorium with cheers as each act lit up the stage. The event highlighted not only the diverse talents of GMIS students but also the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity and self-expression.

            With powerful songs, energetic dances, captivating music solos, and laughter-filled comedy, GMIS Got Talent 2025 was a celebration of student talent that left the whole school community inspired.

            Flag hoisting Ceremony and School Potluck

            On 18th August 2025, GMIS Semarang proudly held a Flag Hoisting Ceremony to commemorate Indonesia’s Independence Day. The ceremony was attended by the entire school community and graced by the presence of Dr. Nur Zaida, M.Pd., Pengawas SMP Sub-Rayon 07, as the honorable guest. 

            The solemn event brought together students, teachers, and staff in a spirit of patriotism and unity as the national flag was raised with pride and respect.

            Following the ceremony, the whole school community gathered for a vibrant potluck celebration, showcasing a wide variety of traditional foods from across Indonesia’s regions. Each dish reflected the nation’s rich cultural diversity and gave students the opportunity to experience Indonesia’s culinary heritage.

            The day was not only a celebration of independence but also of togetherness, as students, parents, and teachers shared food, stories, and traditions. It was a memorable event that highlighted the values of unity in diversity, which remain at the heart of the GMIS Semarang community.

            Launching Our GMIS Co-Curricular Programme – Term 1

            At GMIS Semarang, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. This term, we are proud to launch an expanded Co-Curricular Programme designed to provide every pupil—from Early Years to Senior Secondary—with opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships through meaningful after-school activities.

            Our club offerings include a balanced mix of Free and Paid options, featuring everything from Ballet, Robotics, and English Club to Basketball, Cooking, and Golf. The full list, including times, age groups, and fees, is now available in our Clubs Handbook, which has been shared with all parents.

            Key Dates

            • Free Clubs begin: Wednesday, 6 August 2025

            • Paid Clubs begin: Monday, 11 August 2025

            To ensure fair access and efficient organisation, club registration will be carried out in two rounds via EduPage. As many clubs fill up quickly, families are encouraged to complete registration promptly.

            Important Reminders for Parents

            • Parents must supervise registration, especially for Middle and Senior pupils. Pupils should not sign up independently.

            • Pupils in Prep and Primary may join up to 10 clubs, while those in Middle and Senior School may join up to 5, with By Invitation clubs taking priority where applicable.

            • Paid Clubs require monthly payment, and proof of payment must be submitted to our finance team at:

            Payment confirms enrolment in the selected Paid Clubs until Thursday, 4 September 2025.

            Message from the Vice Principal

            Dear Parents,

            It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the newly appointed Vice Principal of GMIS Semarang. I am truly honoured to be part of such a vibrant and values-driven school community. With a background in international education and a deep commitment to student well-being and academic excellence, I look forward to working closely with you in the journey ahead.

            I am pleased to invite you and your child to participate in our Family Sports Day 2025, held tomorrow, Friday, from 6:15 AM to 11:30 AM, beginning at the school parking lot.

            The event will commence with a short opening ceremony, where students will take part in processions while parents join as the audience. Following this, students will proceed to designated fields based on their grade levels. Parents are welcome to accompany their youngest child during the activities. The event will conclude with the announcement of the House Animal Spirit, selected through our recent voting campaign (voting link available here).

            Water stations will be available across the venue for hydration.

             

            Please ensure your child brings:

            • House T-shirt and PE kit
            • Towel and a filled water bottle
            • Sunscreen applied before school

            Parents are encouraged to wear comfortable sportswear or casual clothing if they wish to join in the activities.

            Students without accompanying parents will be supervised by our teachers.

             

            Parking & Drop-off Information

            Parking has been arranged in coordination with Candhi Golf Management and will be available along Bukit Panorama Street. Our security team will be present to assist.

            If your child is being dropped off by a driver, please use the designated drop-off area near the school gate. Drivers are not permitted to park in activity zones.

             

            Pick-Up Arrangements

            At the end of the event, students may be dismissed and return home directly with their parents.

            If your child will be picked up by someone else, please inform the school in advance for safety reasons.

             

            For the activity schedule and venue map, please refer to the EduPage News section below. Going forward, all updates and important school information will be available on EduPage for improved transparency and communication, alongside the class WhatsApp groups managed by Form Teachers.
